A notified Body is a third party body independent of the testing laboratory. This body is accredited by COFRAC according to ISO 17065: "Conformity assessment - Requirements for bodies certifying products, processes and services".
This organization works free from any pressure or inducement that could influence its judgment. He regularly justifies to his IPD (Impartiality Preservation System) his independence and the absence of conflict of interest for the cases he investigates.The notified body shall examine the technical design of the equipment together with the risk analysis carried out by the manufacturer. After examining the evidence of conformity submitted to it, it certifies that it meets the essential requirements of the Directive.

- The manufacturer is guaranteed a regulatory follow-up of his product by the Notified Body throughout the validity of his certificate.
