Emitech Certification has been officially notified to assess the conformity of radio equipment with the cybersecurity requirements introduced by Delegated Regulation (EU) 2022/30, supplementing Directive RED 2014/53/EU. This notification, obtained in December 2024, positions the organization as a key player in supporting manufacturers in meeting the new cybersecurity obligations applicable from August 2025.
Already notified for other European texts such as the EMC Directive 2014/30/EU and the drone regulation 2019/945, Emitech Certification is expanding its scope to include requirements for network protection, personal data protectionand fraud prevention.
To demonstrate their compliance, manufacturers will be able to rely on the series of harmonized standards EN 18031 – published in 2024 – covering the three aspects of these requirements. These standards confer a presumption of conformity under certain conditions, but in some cases require the intervention of a notified body such as Emitech Certification.
To support manufacturers in this transition, Emitech offers a structured application form incorporating tools such as ICS, IXIT, and a threat analysis framework, ensuring a rigorous and compliant approach to embedded security functions.
This development is part of a broader European initiative, launched by the adoption of the Cyber Resilience Act, which will extend cyber requirements to all digital products. In the meantime, Emitech Certification is playing a central role in supporting manufacturers to offer “secure by design” products on the European market.
